Children Of The New Age

According to Walter Mercado the "children of the New Age, those born and those to be born, are the privileged ones. They come to this world already touched and blessed by the spirit of the New Millennium, closer to the universal spirit and closer to their discovery of it. For them, the door to the unconscious is already open. The drive to dive deeper into their inner selves compels them to seek to know for themselves. They no longer want to accept beliefs; they want to build their own beliefs... The powers of the mind that until now seem accessible only to a few are now within the reach of every child."

Age fraught with potential more magnificent and more terrifying than history has ever known

"Pluto was discovered as recently as 1930 . . . Pluto, they say, is the harbinger of death and rebirth; Pluto is coming into its own; Pluto is casting a lengthening shadow upon the affairs of human beings. As ruler of death and rebirth, Pluto is recognized to be a particular potent force during these rare ages when the planet is at large in Scorpio, its own sign of sex and death. As this book goes to press the world is advancing to the brink of such an epoch. Pluto enters Scorpio on August 27, 1984, and there it will remain until November 10, 1995.

Astrologers the world over have already branded the imminent Pluto/Scorpio age as being fraught with potential more magnificent and more terrifying than history has ever known. Geological upheaval, economic collapse, nuclear war, wondrous technological innovation and the transformation of global consciousness are seen as distinct possibilities — the death of the old bringing on the birth of the new. For if Pluto has a cosmic mission it is to provoke the release of the enduring from the transitory and the outworn . . .

Pluto represents the unconscious — individual and collective — and governs forces buried deep in the psyches of human beings and nations. Along with many of her contemporaries, American astrologer Isabel M. Hickey maintains that the planet's obscure energy is at work behind the restlessness, chaos and confusion of the modern world. She feels that Pluto's transit through Scorpio will ensure the elimination of "ancient wrongs and evils" by touching off "a purging such as the world has never known."

Astrologers have elected the oncoming Pluto/Scorpio transit as the most likely time for Pluto to display, most ruthlessly, its reincarnation power.

Anguish born of regenerative forces seems to be inevitable: the so-called lower self must give way to the higher if all the adverse laws of karma are not to take effect, possibly in another incarnation — if not here and now. The soul is at stake.

British astrologer and clairvoyant John Humber sees the Pluto /Scorpio configuration demanding a leveling of global conditions. "If we haven't got things right, Pluto will let us have it," he declared. "All prejudice and unfairness will have to go and it will go either through cooperation or it will go violently. Transformation and change could come about in a beautiful way but the closer the world gets to this Pluto/Scorpio phase without changing, the more threatening the situation becomes." There is, however, another way of looking at this threat. "For a disease to heal, it has to break out," ventured astrologer Liz Greene in lecturing on Pluto's influence

As unwelcome as change by coercion might be, the action of Pluto, like death itself, is essential for the rebirth that evolution demands. To be reborn, first you must die! Pluto's task is to press for evolutionary perfection, to push the individual and the race through hoops of renewal in life as in death. Ideally, humanity will pursue and bring about its own rebirth by uniting in caring, understanding, and tolerance of individual differences." 1

If we reject their visions, condemn them for their dreams, we are sealing them off from the universal spirit

They no longer want to accept beliefs; they want to build their own beliefs.

As their parents, we can learn from them, open ourselves to their lessons instead of forcing our lessons on them; or we can complicate their journey to discovery by imposing our beliefs on them, limiting their vision with our perception of what is possible and impossible, and closing the doors of their minds with the locks of our own limited comprehension...

The children born now under the dramatic and increasing influence of Aquarius come to us with expanded powers, but if we do not listen to and encourage them, their capacities will atrophy. As with the muscles of our body, failure to exercise our powers limits the growth of those powers. A child kept in a seat will never learn to walk, a child hindered from running will never gain speed and endurance. Similarly, a child constantly told that what he sees are just meaningless dreams or daydreams, constantly told that such-and-such is impossible, will never reach the limits of his vision or reach beyond what is believed possible. . . .

The children arriving now have no conception of what is or is not impossible. That makes them especially well suited to lead us beyond the limits of what we believe to be possible, into whole new realms.

In this way, our children are our teachers as much as our students, especially now. It is said that children choose their parents as they come into this world from a state of unity with the universal spirit, returning to this plane at exactly the place, at exactly the precise moment, and with exactly the people they want or should be with. They come to teach and to learn. Denying them the chance to do so limits the chances of their completing the lesson they came for, as well as limiting the chances of our learning ours.

The powers of the mind that until now seem accessible only to a few are now within the reach of every child. Every child born now has the ability to see deep into the future and the past. It is simply a matter of letting ourselves see. The influence of the age is already opening the door for the children to see what can be. They come at this very moment because they are supposed to. They come because they are supposed to help guide us into the New Millennium and guide us beyond it.

If we reject their visions, condemn them for their dreams, we are sealing them off from the universal spirit — and we are sealing ourselves off, as well." 2

Meditating on the Great Mother

With that in mind we will begin the story of a New Age child Arwinder Singh. He was born at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Montreal, Canada on a cold February afternoon in 1990.

He grew up just like any other kid, maybe just more boisterous than his elder siblings Kash and Shahwinder. There was one obsession that made him stand out — he was one fanatical Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle dude. The fabulous four, his indomitable heroes, practically nursed and nurtured his first few years. (Once he went missing while on a shopping trip in Toronto. His frantic parents, friends and concerned relatives finally found him blocks away, talking to a nice old lady while pointing down a man-hole cover. He was absolutely sure that the Ninja Turtles would spring out any time, and had left his parents at a music shop to greet them.)
The Great Mother
In the primordial mysteries, the
Feminine — whose nature we
have attempted to discern in
the symbols and functions of its
elementary and transformative
character — assumes a creative
role and so becomes the
determining factor in early
human culture. Whereas the
instinctual mysteries revolve
around the central elements
of the life of woman — birth,
menstruation, conception,
pregnancy, sexuality,
climacteric, and death — the
primordial mysteries project a
psychic symbolism upon the
real world and so transform it.

The mysteries of the feminine
may be divided into mysteries
of preservation, formation,
nourishment, and
transformation. . . At all stages
of the primordial mysteries it
is the central symbol of their
realization. . . . The woman is
the natural nourishing
principle and hence mistress
of everything that implies
nourishment. . . . Thus the
transformative character of the
Feminine rises from the
natural to the spiritual plane.
The culture-bringing
primordial mysteries cultimate
in a spiritual reality that
completes the mystery
character of the Feminine.”

The Great Mother

Arwinder started meditating on the Great Mother in early 1995 around the age of five, after having his Kundalini activated by his brother Kash. For months there was never even a hint of the profound inner spiritual experiences that he underwent after Self-realization.

On August 9, 1995 at 6:25 p.m., while walking to the nearby Ivan Franko Park, his father began talking to him about the Divine Mother. Arwinder casually replied that he also had met Her. His father stopped immediately and turned to face him, not believing what he had just heard. He was asked to repeat and the answer was the same — he had also been visiting the Great Primordial Mother, just like his elder brother Kash.

Although he had been meeting and talking to Devi daily in meditation for a long time he did not tell anybody as She told him not to do so. In other words, Arwinder was advised not to inform any family member that he was meeting Her. It was just a day earlier on August 8, 1995, that She had given him permission to tell his father about his spiritual experiences. And that was the reason he was informing his experiences to his father.

Arwinder explained that normally he meditated with the Great Spiritual Mother and 34 other Sahaja Yogis. He said that he was sure about the exact figure as he had counted them on a number of occasions. According to him all them — from Shri Ganesha to Shri Jesus, from Shri Krishna to Shri Buddha — are Sahaja Yogis and very friendly as he had talked to each and every one of them.

He said that during meditation the power (Kundalini) comes till the middle of his eyes at the Agnya chakra, and then slowly goes back down during sleep. Sometimes in meditation he gets "too much power" (intense Kundalini surge) and "Mother has to take it back," (The Adi Shakti has to absorb the excess) or else it will "come out through the top of the head" (flow out through his Brahmarandhra.)

Kundalini is a biological substance that exists within the framework of the body

This experience seems to be somewhat similar to Shri Mataji's explanation of the gushing Kundalini: "Because the vibrations are flowing and you are not receiving it, so I don't know how to contain within Myself. If you do not suck in the vibrations, so I take time to take them out."

According to Swami S. Saraswati with "the awakening of kundalini, the great intelligence is aroused from its sleep and you can give birth to a new range of creativity. When kundalini awakens, not only are you blessed with visions and psychic experiences, you could become a prophet, saint, inspired artist or musician, a brilliant writer or poet, a clairvoyant or messiah. Or you could become an outstanding leader, prime minister, governor or president. The awakening of the kundalini affects the whole area of the human mind and behaviour.

Kundalini is not a myth or an illusion. It is not a hypothesis or a hypnotic suggestion. Kundalini is a biological substance that exists within the framework of the body. Its awakening generates electrical impulses throughout the whole body and these impulses can be detected by modern scientific instruments and machines. Therefore, each of us should consider the importance and the benefits of awakening kundalini, and we should make a resolve to awaken this great shakti.

Everybody should know something about kundalini as it represents the coming consciousness of mankind." 3

Arwinder was asked how did this power (Kundalini) feel, whether hot, warm or cold? According to him it is warm.

He added that he had many conversations with The Great Mother and always talked about "good things," especially how beautiful this world was — the flowers, trees, grass, people, insects and so forth.

He mentioned that his physical interior body is made of "bones and blood." She had explained that to him when he inquired about this subject.

Arwinder also observed that the Goddess always wore different dresses (saris) daily, particularly those with patterns of small flowers. Often She wore red and gold colored dresses, considered "very nice" by Arwinder.

He said that Shri Pancha-Brahma-Svarupini Devi 4 had also taken him to visit houses of worship on numerous occasions in the Spirit World. These buildings were of different shapes and colors: gold, dark red, blue, green and yellow. Inside their compounds there was always an abundance of offerings: bananas, coconuts, oranges, strawberries, pomegranates, apples, cooked rice, and other type of food in silver bowls. There were a variety of flowers arranged on both sides of these offerings.

Whenever Shri Bhakta-harda-tamo-bheda-bhanu-madbhanu- santaih Devi 5 arrived at these Houses of Worship She used to stop and help the spiritual beings arrange the fruits, food and flowers. Some of them then remained behind to meditate with the Great Primordial Mother.

After meditation these spiritual beings distributed all offerings. Arwinder also meditated with them as he wanted to eat the prasad (sacred food offering of the Lord)! He added that he declined some offerings but accepted fruits.

They were ethereal in nature but yet were of 'solid' form

According to him the spiritual inhabitants, which included children, were racially mixed — Caucasian, African, Oriental, Indian, and so forth. However, their physical appearances were different as that of human beings on Earth. They were ethereal in nature but yet were of 'solid' form, judging from their clothes and activities. Put simply, they were all spirits, yet ‘human.’ It was difficult for him to explain how their spiritual bodies looked like, but his descriptions matched that of Kash. (His sister Lalita had also found it difficult to explain her own semi-transparent body in the Kingdom of God and said that her hands, feet, and body were "like water.")

Arwinder also said that there are many people existing in the Spirit World but could not explain in numbers how many — a hundred thousand, millions? For example, it is difficult for a five-year-old to be in Tokyo and determine its population. This observation also confirmed what Kash said about the Spiritual World; that there are many people existing there.

Arwinder's spiritual experiences with the Great Holy Mother awed his father into silence and hapless surrender. It was one of the most intense and detailed revelation of the Kingdom of God. A five-year-old child was narrating to a forty-three-year-old adult the Supreme Truth of the Divine World of Reality. Arwinder irrefutably confirmed that the Devi was the Great Inner Guide in his Sahasrara. It also corroborated that She was the same Supreme Spirit that Kash was talking about.
Arwinder noticed Divine Beings he meditated with
Divine Beings (click to enlarge)

On August 29, 1995, the laminated blowup of the 'miracle photo' was brought home and hung up. Arwinder was casually looking at it and then, when he noticed the Divine Beings at the top left-hand corner (see photo on left), immediately pointed to them and said that those were the 'Sahaja Yogis' that had meditated with him.

He had no knowledge that this photograph was taken at Camp Talooli, USA but positively identified them from their ethereal form in the Kingdom of God.

Arwinder was sure that they were Spirit People as he himself was in that ethereal form when he met them. An apparent soul (jivatman) of the macrocosm was explaining to his father about his real soul (Paramatman) in the microcosm.

The real soul (Paramatman) and the apparent soul (jivatman)

"According to Hinduism, man is essentially a soul that uses its body and mind as instruments to gain experience. What is the nature of the soul? Hinduism maintains that the macrocosm and the microcosm are built on the same plan, and that Brahman is the soul of both. As the soul of man, Brahman is known as Paramatman. The Upanishads speak of the two souls of man dwelling, as it were, side by side, within him: the real soul (Paramatman) and the apparent soul (jivatman). The real soul is the witness consciousness, serene and detached. The apparent soul is the embodied soul, the experiencer of birth and death, and is ever in quest of freedom and eternal life. The apparent soul is the ego self--the reflection of the real soul. The real soul has been described as Self and the apparent soul as non-Self. Hinduism analyzes man in terms of three bodies, five sheaths, and three states. It says that a human individual has three bodies: physical body, subtle body, and causal body. The physical body is produced out of the gross forms of the five basic elements (ether, air, water, fire, and earth), and is subject to a sixfold change: birth, subsistence, growth, maturity, decay, and death. At death the physical body perishes and its five constituent elements are dissolved. The subtle body is made of the subtle forms of the five basic elements that produced the physical body. It is the receptacle of thoughts and memories and continues to exist after death, serving as the vehicle of transmigration. A human individual enters this world with a bundle of thoughts in the form of his mind, and he also exits with a bundle of thoughts, some old and some new. The causal body, characterized by ego sense only, is finer than the subtle body. All three bodies are for the fulfillment of desires, gross and subtle. The soul is different from these three bodies.

Hindu scriptures further describe the body-mind complex of man as consisting of five sheaths, or layers: the physical sheath, the sheath of prana (the vital air), the sheath of mind, the sheath of intellect, and the sheath of bliss. These sheaths are located one inside the other like the segments of a collapsible telescope, with the sheath of the physical body being the outermost and the sheath of bliss being the innermost. The sheath of the physical body is dependent on food for its sustenance and lasts as long as it can absorb nourishment. The sheath of the vital air is the manifestation of the universal vital energy. It animates the gross body, making it inhale and exhale, move about, take in nourishment, excrete, and reproduce. The sheath of the mind is the seedbed of all desires. It is changeful, characterized by pain and pleasure, and has a beginning and an end. The sheath of the intellect is the seat of I-consciousness. Though material and insentient by nature, it appears intelligent because it reflects the light of the Self. It is the cause of embodiment. Finer than the sheath of the intellect is the sheath of bliss, the main features of which are pleasure and rest. It, too, is material and subject to change. The five sheaths are the five layers of embodiment and they veil the light of the Self.

The Upanishads mention that man experiences three states of existence-waking, dream, and deep sleep-and his Self within, the experiencer of the three states, is different from them. Analysis of all three states reveals the true nature of the Self. In the waking state man remains identified with his physical body, in the dream state with his subtle body, and in deep sleep with his causal body. The Atman, or Self, is the monitoring consciousness of all three states and is the basis of their unity. Hinduism contends that conclusions based only on an analysis of the waking state are incomplete and cannot reveal the real nature of man. In this sense, Hinduism considers the conclusions of physical science as inadequate although not incorrect." 6
